T-minus a few short days and counting until Rocky Raccoon! I have been out of my head scared for the last couple weeks, but on Monday night as I was lying in bed sleepless with the same old thoughts scrolling through my mind (What if I'm wearing the wrong shoes? What if I eat the wrong things? What if my headlamp blows up? What if.. What if... What if....???) I decided that instead of just tossing and turning that I would visualize. I've seen enough pictures of the course to have a pretty good idea of what things look like, so I visualized how I wanted things to go from the start of the race to the finish.. aid stations, nighttime, eating, everything. And amazingly enough it worked.. I fell asleep after the finish and I woke up feeling peaceful and excited instead of terrified and almost dreading it. I feel calm and confident and really excited in a good way.

I'm looking forward to spending time with all the wonderful Trail Nerds that are going down and meeting all sorts of new people. My crew is set and excited and I'm no longer second guessing every decision I've made. We're leaving tomorrow morning, so we can have all day Friday to check things out and do any last minute things.. I'm looking forward to exploring the park and maybe doing an easy 2-3 miler on Friday. Cross your fingers for me everyone!

You're fucking nuts, but in some strange way, I'm proud of you for actually attempting this.

i know i'm supposed to say something supportive, but i can't remember what i've written. i can't get that photo of the raccoon out of my head. he's on two legs. it cracks me up.

maybe he's telling you that you'll be fine and you'll end on two feet and not crawling on four.
